How to choose

Work out whether you need a coil or a whole cartridge first. SMOK uses both systems: Nord and RPM cartridges are empty shells that take a separate coil, while a few pods such as the Zrex RF have the coil fixed inside. After that, resistance sets the style. A 0.16ohm or 0.23ohm coil is a direct lung setup at higher wattage and should be run with 3mg freebase. The 0.6ohm DC MTL and 0.8ohm to 0.9ohm LP1 coils are tight mouth to lung options and work with nic salt. Buying one cartridge and several coils is usually cheaper than replacing complete pods. Do SMOK Nord cartridges come with a coil?

The Nord and RPM cartridges listed here are empty shells. You fit a separate RPM or LP coil into them, which means you only replace the coil when it burns out.

What is the difference between LP1 and LP2 coils?

They fit different platforms. LP1 coils are the tighter mouth to lung option at 0.8ohm and 0.9ohm, while LP2 at 0.23ohm is a direct lung coil used by the Nord 4 and RPM 4.

Which coils work with nic salt?

The 0.6ohm DC MTL and the 0.8ohm and 0.9ohm LP1 coils. Lower resistance coils like 0.16ohm and 0.23ohm are meant for 3mg freebase.

How often should I change a coil?

Most people get one to two weeks. A burnt taste, reduced flavour or spitting are the signs it is due.

Will these fit my older SMOK kit?

Check the series name on your pod. RPM, RPM 2, RPM 3, LP1 and LP2 are separate platforms and are not cross-compatible.
